Poetry, short prose, & general musings.

I long to curate
To explore every little detail
Live in the nooks & crannies
Of that which transports us
To another world
I search the corners of my mind
Dig in the trenches of my soul
Allow it to pour onto page
To create beautiful things
Word, space, paint, voice
Is to be outside of yourself
To share a small sliver
With those willing to read, be, see, hear.

You are a soft place to land
A perfect fit to my hand
I long to hold you near
To draw you tight & hear
The soft drum in your chest
My head lies still in this nest
A brush of your lips on my neck
My insides become a wreck
When you are away from me
I will greet you home with glee
Hold onto us, chase away doubt
I will love you until time runs out.

I long to shield you
From the world and it’s knives
How they slash and bite
When they understand
You are different than you once were.
They will rain their verses on you
Throwing their opinions and beliefs
Like darts into your tender flesh
Even as I long to protect you
I begin to realize how small I am
How little I actually understand.
I once used my words in that way
As weapons to protect my own security
How can I be a beacon of truth, light
And also of love?
