Insufficiency & subsequent striving
The two curses
Apathy seemingly the cure
Disconnect.
Unplug.
Life surges back
Reminding me of all I love
What is the answer?
It’s the battle towards the middle
Less extremes
More balance
I long for the steady rhythm now.
Of course
It is but a journey.
To be somewhere
With a history
A presence that has grit
Memories that linger
Ghosts both friendly and haunting
Sitting on a porch swing
Meeting someone for the first time
Hugging them goodbye
As if you’ve known them forever
A person who asks your child their name
Looks them in the eye
And actually remembers, cares.
The connections between people
That is what will hold us fast
That is what will keep us from falling apart.
I’m thirsty for whimsy
Something to snap me out of this haze
How can I find it
Right where I am
I need to be present, grounded
But my heart longs to lift away
Dreaming of a different landscape
A spontaneous adventure
It’s all talk
All planning
The reality is that it’s unrealistic
So instead I write
And tuck away the longing
Forcing myself to find magic
Here in front of me.
What would it mean to stay?
What would it mean to leave?
For You are the same in every way.
You never change through my grief.
I am always searching for the answers.
I am looking for new hope.
You remind me again that You are the answer.
You whisper that You are my true hope.
You reveal the path of life to me; in Your presence is abundant joy, at Your right hand are eternal pleasures. Psalm 16
