You are my legacy
A light continuing to shine
Long after I’m gone
My love fuels the flame
May you burn so bright
The years must squint
At your everlasting beauty.

Poetry, short prose, & general musings.
You are my legacy
A light continuing to shine
Long after I’m gone
My love fuels the flame
May you burn so bright
The years must squint
At your everlasting beauty.

Brisk breeze
Balm to my soul
Hot tea in my hands
Baked delicacy perfumes the air
Sweater bundled like a hug
A time to slow and prepare
Breathe, move forward
Read more, talk less
Sit still, listen.
Gaze into flicking flames
Let Autumn sink into my bones
Face her with open arms
Allowing fear to be my guide
For that is the first step
Towards greater knowing.

At times I drink to have a laugh
A cheery time to clink glasses
Bring down walls built
Through days of work and grit
Others times – to make the edges fuzzy
Forget the pain and tragedy
Relinquish who I long to be
A therapist would say
I need to feel the pain in a raw way
Not the one – that alcohol dulls
I do wonder when
I won’t need it any longer.
One day I will accept
The realist version of me.
