Poetry, short prose, & general musings.

This generation is always saying something

Preaching convictions

Posting opinions

Following causes

If you aren’t speaking-

You’re with the oppressors.

If you don’t take a side-

You’re on the wrong side.

What if we said less-

And listened more?

What if we truly sought

To understand the person next to us?

Leaving our preconceived notions

Behind us for a time –

To make room for a story.

To hear someone’s experience, hurts, fears

Is to soften the edges of the convictions

We so firmly grasp.

Our fists slowly unclench

To reveal open hands

Ready to receive and give

The care that would transform our world.
